So i know the pictures above may come off as pretty random… Amd that’s exactly the point.

Reflecting on the past few days and the recent success I’ve been lucky enough to have with this blog (thank you), I began to realize that my stories may be a little bit tough to link together. However, that’s just the way my life and my passions seem to be these days. A brief outline of my recent activities may help you to understand how all of these factors come into play:

Thursday, I spent the day at another photo shoot for one of my two internships. I came to work at the other one on Friday where all day was spent talking about (and doing tasks related to) music and a variety of artists and bands. One of my best friends from college flew in for the weekend, so we spent the weekend attempting to see the very best that New York has to offer. Friday night was spent at an eclectic bar in the East Village, followed by a Saturday full of walking around and shopping in Union Square and SoHo. We then capped the freezing cold afternoon with an early dinner at Gemma at the Bowery Hotel (YUM). Later that night, we headed out to Kiss & Fly in the Meatpacking District, and all of a sudden it was Sunday afternoon and she was gone. I, of course, couldn’t let Fashion Week escape me without getting involved in some way, so I applied to help out at an event Sunday night. I was selected for the position, so Sunday night was packed full of gift bags and learning a quick who’s who of the beauty press world at the incredible Hudson Hotel.

Now I didn’t write this post simply to tell you more about myself and what I like to spend my time doing. I wrote this in an effort to explain why my posts seem to revolve around many different topics that may seem irrelevant or unrelated to each other, from fashion to music to travel to beauty to whatever else may pop into my life in between.

From here on, I hope you (continue to) enjoy it. I guess the best thing to call this would be a “lifestyle blog” because it truly is reflective of my lifestyle and the random happenings that come into play. I hope you enjoy reading, and as always, your feedback is welcome and very much appreciated!

Happy Monday!

Earlier this week, I spent the day stationed at one particular spot in the meatpacking district for a photo shoot with work. Luckily for me, this spot was directly outside of one of Diane von Furstenberg’s many offices on the street, and just before I left for the day, I caught a rare sighting of the designer herself. She walked out, smiled with indescribable humility and class, and in an instant she was gone. This, of course, got me thinking about all the wonder that the pattern master has and is still providing for the industry. This month, the designer teamed up with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute as well as Diet Coke for the fifth year in a row to both kick off NY Fashion Week and support the Heart Truth campaign. Minka Kelly was the highlight of the Heart Truth fashion show in a custom sequin red DVF gown, and DVF also created a line of special edition Diet Coke bottles to be sold in stores and online throughout the month. Although the bottles don’t actually contain any Diet Coke, if you’re a DVF fan, these adorable collectors items are a must have.

Moral of the story… love Diane.

Meeting up with new people at new places is nine times out of ten a win-win situation. It gives you the chance to get to know someone new in totally equally grounds, and if you’re lucky, you’ll discover a new and enticing new place. For me, it was a date night at bar 44 in NYC. As you can probably guess from the picture of the door above, the place was dark and intimate, and the perfect place for a quiet one-on-one conversation. Bar 44 also boasted a beautiful, massive fireplace that was perfectly placed to set the scene. All in all, we had some great drinks and it was the perfect was to get to know someone new! Steven Spielberg was even spotted there soon after, do obviously we made a fabulous choice.

happy monday!

With the hype of new years winding down but vacation still in full swing, I’ve had a chance to check out some very hyped places in NYC and do some investigating of my own. I met up with a friend in the ever-appealing Union Square, and the plan was to let the city lead us where it may. Hours and many dollars down later {see: street jewels in soho} we were spent and ready for dinner. A fantastic Italian meal at local hot spot Bar Pitti lead us to dessert at Dylan’s Candy Bar, and we even made it home in time for The Bachelor.

I have to say, I love this city!
