spring on the sunshine

26 Jan

I woke up on this chilly NY morning with no idea what time it was. I was out of it, my Nyquil for this winter haze was just starting to wear off, and there wasn’t an ounce of sunshine in sight. More than anything, I was definitely not in the mood to layer up and get out the door. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to get up and on my way with the rain visibly looming outside, so I forced myself to be optimistic and look forward to what the spring (or even next week’s trip to LA) will bring. Warm up with yellows, oranges, and bold, bright colors because spring is approaching and it’s time to embrace it. Pair a vibrant lipstick with some statement polish and loud, dynamic shoes and you’re well on your way to styled for spring.

mild obsession: grateful dead by donni charm

These scarves are the perfect way to spice up your winter/ spring wardrobe. They’re light and very soft (as most Donni Charm scarves are), and they find a happy medium between a scarf to keep you warm while still making it through a more temperate spring looking fresh. Donni Charm scarves have always been a favorite of mine, and the Grateful Dead line adds just enough edge to make a statement. Love!

stepping out

Meeting up with new people at new places is nine times out of ten a win-win situation. It gives you the chance to get to know someone new in totally equally grounds, and if you’re lucky, you’ll discover a new and enticing new place. For me, it was a date night at bar 44 in NYC. As you can probably guess from the picture of the door above, the place was dark and intimate, and the perfect place for a quiet one-on-one conversation. Bar 44 also boasted a beautiful, massive fireplace that was perfectly placed to set the scene. All in all, we had some great drinks and it was the perfect was to get to know someone new! Steven Spielberg was even spotted there soon after, do obviously we made a fabulous choice.

happy monday!

lazy days

3 Jan

Time off is great because it allows you to play catch up, spend time with friends, and get out to enjoy yourself more than usual. For me, the best parts of a vacation are the little things, like having a very lazy and very extended morning. Lazy mornings are great for extra pampering time that you can’t always fit into your daily life. Have a cup of coffee, put on a cheesy romantic comedy, and take your time to get ready slowly.

not-so-hidden treasures

2 Jan

With the hype of new years winding down but vacation still in full swing, I’ve had a chance to check out some very hyped places in NYC and do some investigating of my own. I met up with a friend in the ever-appealing Union Square, and the plan was to let the city lead us where it may. Hours and many dollars down later {see: street jewels in soho} we were spent and ready for dinner. A fantastic Italian meal at local hot spot Bar Pitti lead us to dessert at Dylan’s Candy Bar, and we even made it home in time for The Bachelor.

I have to say, I love this city!

new beginnings

Welcome to thestarrpower, my own personal account of the trials and tribulations of my daily life. With a move to New York City still fresh and two new opportunities starting soon, there seems to be no better time to start talking. Major interests include the entertainment industry, music, style, beauty ideas, and traveling. I’ll explain how these all happened as we go! This will serve as a means to gush, rant, and rave about all the highs and lows that come about with my ever-changing life.
